It will be important for Slovakia to complete the accession process for the European Space Agency (ESA) as soon as possible, stated European Commission Vice-president for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič. He noted that the European space market was worth around €50 billion and employed more than 230,000 Europeans. "Globally, Europe is a space empire that accounts for about one fifth of the global space industry," he added. Šefčovič stated that he wanted Slovakia to join the ESA this year, but Slovakia will have to complete the 'homework' that awaits it and pay an entry fee of around €1.4 million.
