According to the Minister of Economy Petra Žiga, the planned Eastring gas pipeline is still on track and has the support of the Slovak government. Slovakia has already signed two Memoranda of Understanding on this project with Hungary and Bulgaria. "We are still missing a Memorandum with Romania, and basically the whole Eastring project could then start running," Žiga said. A survey on the effects of the pipe's construction should be completed in June 2018. The Eastring gas pipeline should pass through Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria to Turkey at a projected cost of around € 1.5 billion euro in the second phase, eventually transferring 40 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually.
