The Defence Ministry plans to send members of the armed forces a year to study in Germany, Slovak Defence Minister Martin Glvač said on Tuesday during talks with German Ambassador Michael Schmunk.
“I want to confirm that we're interested in training our officers at the Defence Academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. I would also like to note that the last two chiefs of general staff have studied at this academy,” said Glvač. Glvač agreed with Schmunk that co-operation between Slovakia and Germany in defence could become more active in the future. Glvač sees scope for co-operation especially in the reciprocal use of training facilities. “We can offer to the Germans our high-quality training centre in Lest (Banska Bystrica region),” he added.
