Slovakia is against decreasing child allowances for foreigners working in Austria whose children are back in their home countries, as proposed by the new Austrian government. According to Slovak Labour Minister Ján Richter "if Slovaks working and paying mandatory levies in Austria should have lower benefits than locals, then this is the end of the EU." He added that other Visegrad Four countries (Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland) as well as Italy, Portugal and Spain and the European Commission have a similar negative stance.
