Even if President Ivan Gašparovič refused again to sign the new law on assistance for people with material needs, it will come into force anyway next year. Last week MPs did not accept his reservations about the new law and re-approved it in its original form.
The Head of State wanted to exclude community service from the list of work that adults dependent on welfare are required to perform in order to qualify for basic material need assistance; in the amount of €61.60.
