Environment Minister Lászlo Solymos believes he can manage to push through a new environment strategy, wrote TASR on Sunday. The current one is now 25 years old and according to him, Slovakia should have a new strategy if it wants to be a modern European country. Solymos said that the strategy will determine the powers of individual sectors and ministries, as well as cooperation between them. The Environment Ministry published the first draft of Slovakia's Environment Policy Strategy up to 2030 in late 2017. The strategic environmental assessment of the document should take place by the end of March 2018. Subsequently, the document will be submitted for an interdepartmental review and to a cabinet session. The draft is available to the public on the ministry's website.
New environment strategy might be introduced soon
