The Migration Information Centre (MIC) within the Slovak branch of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has opened free Slovak language courses for foreigners from countries outside the European Union. These free language lessons begin in Bratislava on January 15 and are designed for beginners and advanced students. Lessons will be held the mid and late afternoons, with beginners' classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and advanced classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at C. S. Lewis Bilingual High School in Bratislava. "Courses are free of charge, open for all ages without registration or admission tests," states the Slovak IOM website. The courses are designed specifically for foreigners from Slavic countries and those coming from other countries outside the EU. Each lesson has a separate theme reflecting the situations in which foreigners find themselves in everyday life, such as interactions in a bank, store, or with a doctor. The IOM added that free courses will also be offered in Košice, with dates to be announced.
