Health Minister Tomáš Drucker (a Smer-SD nominee) is content with the changes carried out so far in the health sector, TASR has learnt. He voiced his appreciation for the fact that the state-run health insurer VsZP will close the year with a balanced budget despite its challenging financial situation and could soon complete its revival plan. The Minister finds most successful the changes concerning the rearrangement of emergency departments, the introduction of central procurement processes for hospitals, the centralised hospital management, the reduction of hospital debt, the creation of a comprehensive price database for special medical material and equipment and the amendment to the legislation governing drugs. As of January 2018, the e-Health project is slated to be launched into full operation, ushering in electronic health registers and the electronic prescription of drugs.
