President Andrej Kiska has signed the amendment to the income tax law. It changes the definition of the tax residence, introduces measures in support of spa treatment as well as an increase in research and development deductions. Parliament on Thursday overrode a veto by President Andrej Kiska regarding the deductible levy item in health insurance for employers and thus it will be scrapped as of January 2018. When explaining his veto, Kiska levelled criticism mostly at the manner in which the scrapping of the deductible levy item found its way into legislation, as the coalition shepherded the change through Parliament via an amending proposal instead of a standard legislative process. "I consider this to be unsubstantiated and unacceptable," said Kiska.
