On Friday, the popular Slovak funicular from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté pleso has marked 80 years since its existence. According to Juraj Husovský, a high rigger, constructing such a technical gadget linking two places in such a long distance, i.e. 6 km, with no stop in between was unique in the world at the time. The original construction has, however, been replaced by the latest technologies. The only original parts of the unique project are two stations designed by prodigious architect Dušan Jurkovič.
