EU Funds drawn at expected pace

As of December 15th, the volume of EU funds drawn at the national level stood at €1.7 billion which is almost 11% of the total sum allocated for the 2014-20 period, wrote the TASR press agency on Wednesday. As vice-premier for Investments and Informatisation Peter Pellegrini said, more than 34% of EU funds had already been contracted in Slovakia for this period. "We'll reach the projected 11-12%," assured Pellegrini. According to TASR, measures from an Action Plan to Increase the Transparency and Effectiveness of Drawing Funds helped to improve the situation, as well as new electronic calls. Pellegrini also commented on a potential loss, a so-called de-commitment. "If everything turns out well, Slovakia will see no de-commitment in 2017 apart from the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry," he said. At this ministry, one call has been cancelled and one is being examined.
