The salaries of MPs, Cabinet members, the president, chair and vice-chair of the Supreme Audit Office and some other constitutional officials, which have been frozen since 2011, will go up by one euro as of January 2018. With 105 votes, MPs passed an amending proposal to the law on VAT on Thursday. The state is set to save €4.1 million on the measure, which was also approved by the Finance Ministry. The salaries of the prosecutor-general, the Judicial Council head, judges of the Constitutional Court and judges whose salaries are linked to prosecutors' salaries are exempt from the bill. On Friday, MPs started to discuss the amendment to the Labour code increasing night shifts and holiday bonuses as well as introducing weekend bonuses.
