Another extraordinary session to oust Interior Minister

Another extraordinary session to oust Interior Minister

Slovak parliament has a busy day ahead. At its regular session today, MPs will discuss a draft amendment to the law on support for the least developed regions, issues of cybersecurity, as well as the bill of the year: the state budget. In the afternoon, an extraordinary session aimed at ousting Interior Minister Róbert Kaliňák will take place. The Opposition parties want to oust Kaliňák for failing to fulfil his duties in the long term. The latest reason to vote for his dismissal came, according to the opposition, with the issuing of a fine from the Public Procurement Office. In a written response, the Interior Ministry claims that it was fined only for two public tenders, both of which took place while the ministry was lead by the opposition. According to the statement, the Interior ministry, under the leadership of Robert Kaliňák, did not receive any fine from the Public Procurement Office.
