Peter Kažimír looks forward to cooperating with new Eurogroup leader

Slovak Finance Minister Peter Kažimír (Smer-SD), who ran for the post of the new Eurogroup president, gave up his bid in order to endorse Mario Centeno of Portugal. Kažimír decided to withdraw his bid in order to honour an agreement among the European socialists, of which Kažimír's party, Smer-SD is a member. After Monday's vote in Brussels, Kažimír congratulated Centeno on his election and added that he stands ready to cooperate with him. Regarding his own candidacy Kažimír stated, that it was important to draw attention to Slovakia and its will to actively participate in shaping European policy in the area of finance and financial markets.
