Employers against increase in bonuses

Employers against increase in bonuses

Representatives of employers expressed their disagreement with an amendment to the Labour Code on increase employees' bonuses at the tripartite meeting on Saturday, wrote TASR. Thus, social partners will keep discussing a proposal to increase employees' bonuses. The Proposals include increasing bonuses for night-time and holiday work, as well as introduction of bonuses for weekend work. Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Minister Ján Richter (Smer-SD) labelled the tripartite talks as very constructive, as each social partner had a right to express its opinion. However, they'll keep seeking a compromising solution. As of May 2018, bonuses for night-time work should increase from 20 to 50% of the minimum wage. Bonuses for holiday work should go up from 50 to 100% of an employee's average. Bonuses for weekend work should be introduced as well, amounting to at least 100% of the minimum wage. The Association of Employer's Unions finds the proposal absolutely unacceptable as it could have fatal consequences for some companies.
