On Thursday, the Slovak Finance Minister Peter Kažimír (Smer-SD) announced that he had officially applied for the post of chairman of the Eurozone finance ministers' group, the so-called Eurogroup. The vote is scheduled for December and is aimed at finding a replacement for Jeroen Dijsselbloem, with the new Eurogroup chief set to assume the post in January. Another figure being considered among the socialists for the post is Portuguese Finance Minister Mario Centeno.
