The flow of so-called economic refugees, according to Prime Minister Robert Fico, should be stopped directly in their countries of origin. Both the European Union and Africa would, in his view, have much to do in improving education levels and job creation so that people from poorer African countries would have no reason to leave for Europe. The topic of illegal migration was one of the key issues discussed at the Africa-EU Summit which took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday and Thursday.
