Slovakia restricts access of social media for children

Social media networks and similar services will only be able to be signed up to by users who are 16 years or older, unless the consent of the child's parents is given. This follows an amendment to the Act on the Protection of Personal Data, which was approved by Parliament on Wednesday. Slovakia will thus use the upper age limit foreseen in European Union regulation. However, the measure will not apply, for example, to services for abused children.
