Kiska makes speech at Holocaust and extremism seminar

To really understand things, we must at least touch them in our imaginations, and this also applies to the awareness of what hatred and extremism can cause, said President Andrej Kiska in his speech at a Holocaust and Extremism seminar hosted by Comenius University in Bratislava on Wednesday. Kiska was alluding to the knowledge contained in books and films and gained through visits to memorial sites that involved the horrors of the Holocaust during World War Two. "Anyone who reads such a book, watches such a film, or visits a place like Auschwitz, and empathetically imagines this concerning his immediate family, receives a deep imprint in his soul," stated Kiska. "And such a deep indentation is needed today because we have modern fascists here, people denying the Holocaust as well as the suffering of the Jews deported from Slovakia during the Second World War," emphasised Kiska.
