Danko explaining Russia speech

"The resolution by the foreign affairs committee summoning me to explain my recent speech in Russia's State Duma isn't in accordance with the Rules of Procedure," said Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko at a press conference on Thursday. Despite this, he accepted the invitation and met the committee members on Friday. In his speech in the Duma, Danko stated that global peace was not possible without a strong Russia, as Russia forms part of a global security architecture whether people like it or not. At his press conference on Thursday, he stated that the "train of economic cooperation with Russia" was about to leave the station, so there was a need to initiate further visits to Russia. Danko cited Czech President Milos Zeman as a role-model worthy of emulation, as Zeman is received by heads of state in the USA, China and Russia. The foreign affairs committee chair Frantisek Šebej levelled scathing criticism of Danko's speech in the Duma via the media several days ago. Nevertheless, he pointed out that the Rules of Procedure do not empower committees to summon other representatives of Parliament to their sessions for questioning; this option can be used only against the Government.
