Brussels has announced it will hand out a total of €150 million to 160 selected companies in Slovakia. An example of a typical company in Slovakia which would be eligible to receive such subsidies from Brussels, would be a firm which does business in industrial manufacturing, has been established in the Žilina region, and it employs a maximum of 250 people.
The subsidised corporations will be able to use the money for the purchase of new technologies and further development. However, they will not get the funds for free; instead only if they meet the elementary conditions of hiring new staff and retaining them for at least five years.
