Prohibiting water scooters in the most stringent protection zones of water sources, clearer procedure for assessing hydroelectric power plants and stricter rules for wastewater treatment. All these measures are encompassed within the amendment to the Water Act and the Act on Public Water Supply and Sewerage from the Ministry of the Environment, which was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday. The change of legislation was required for a better implementation of the Water Act in practice by the Slovak Environmental Inspection. The amendment also deals with the assessment of flood control measures, hydroelectric power plants, ports and bridges, and introduces a more effective control of waste water.
