Ján Mazák, a former Constitutional Court chair and advisor to President Andrej Kiska, will resubmit his bid for the post of EU General Court additional judge, TASR learnt on Tuesday. Judicial Council chair Lenka Praženková had to reopen the vote for a candidate for the post of Luxembourg-based court judge after the Slovak candidacies of Mária Patakyová and then Radoslav Procházka were turned down. Mazák applied for the post as well, although the Judicial Council narrowly rejected his bid in a secret vote held on June 27, 2016, when he garnered nine out of 18 votes and so lacked a single vote to be elected as the official Slovak candidate. The vote is scheduled to be held by the Judicial Council on January 29, 2018.
