Consumer mood in Slovakia worsened in October

The consumer atmosphere in Slovakia worsened in October 2017, the Statistics Office reported on Monday. According to data from the latest consumer barometer, it fell by 1.6 points month-on-month to a negative level (-4.1) with seasonal effects taken into account, resulting in an almost ten-year low. All elements in the consumer barometer were recorded as worsening in October, including expectations for the economic situation, estimates involving unemployment development in the country, as well as forecasts regarding the financial situation and conditions for saving in Slovakia. According to the Statistics Office, respondents were 0.6 points more optimistic compared to October 2016 with the current result exceeding the long-term average.
