The news of Marián Kotleba, a right-wing extremist winning in Slovakia’s regional elections has also attracted the attention of the foreign press.
Most notably in the neighbouring Czech Republic, where commentators from the biggest national daily Mladá Fronta think that the victory of Kotleba in Slovakia will offer a much more far-reaching effect, including the Czech Republic. They feel therefore that the results should serve as a warning. Foreign press agencies have been quick to remind readers abroad of Kotleba’s past neo-Nazi sympathies. AP informs that Kotleba thinks of NATO as of a terrorist organisation.
