Slovaks positive about EU membership

As many as 50 percent of Slovaks consider the country's membership in the European Union to be a good thing, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey. Almost three quarters of Slovaks are convinced that Slovakia has benefited from membership in the European Union. According to the European Parliament's Information Office, this is one of the highest figures in the EU. The EU's image in Slovakia has improved when compared to previous surveys, including as far as the country's voice within the EU is concerned. As many as 39 percent of Slovaks think that the country's voice has some force in the Union. The Eurobarometer survey also showed that Slovaks worry mainly about terrorism (48 percent), uncontrolled migration (45 percent), poverty (39 percent) and unemployment (36 percent). The survey was carried out in all 28 EU-member states between September 23-October 2.
