When the men’s team failed to get to the semi-final stage, it was in fact the women who decided to fly the flag for Slovak Rafting, in Parallel Sprint in Rotorua, New Zealand.
After losses in the sprint events for both sex categories, the women’s team defeated their United States opponents in the semi-final only to meet the host nation in the final. They were ultimately successful, winning gold in a sport that Slovakia in recent years has been a world class competitor. The Rafting Championships though continues as Slovakia looks to increase their medal haul in the slalom events.
