The Chairman of the Czech Chamber of Deputies of Parliament, Jan Hamáček, along with Slovak Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko paid a visit to the Czechoslovak Soldiers Memorial at Dukla. There they commemorated the victims of WW2 battles. "I'm very glad that the chairman has decided to say farewell in an official manner and commemorate with us the greatest battles at Dukla as part of one of his final working visits," said Danko. October 6 is a day of remembrance in Slovakia. This very day in 1944, the First Czechoslovak Army Corps entered the territory of their homeland during the East Carpathian strategic offensive operation. This battle is considered to be the worst the Corps experienced, suffering major losses.
