Slovakia has received a special recognition from the Council of Europe for its project Hriňovské lazy: Landscape of Values. The project, which entered the European Landscape Convention, was aimed at preserving the traditional way of life of people living in specific scattered settlements and creating conditions for all stakeholders to co-operate in land management and local development. Among the 13 projects that entered the 5th edition of European Landscape Convention, the special award went to Latvia.
