Digital Coalition to help Slovakia face digital challenges

A 'digital coalition', which was introduced in an inked memo on Tuesday, should help Slovakia to increase the level of its digitisation in all spheres, said Vice-premier for Informatisation and Investments Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD). According to him, the memo binds signatories from the Government, education bodies, NGOs and industry to do everything possible in order to enable Slovakia to face the digital challenges ahead. "If Slovakia wants to be in the core of the EU, its vital interest should also be part of the technology core, in order to be among the countries with big innovative potential, so that it doesn't remain a mere assembly hall of Europe," said Pellegrini. The Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry should have a principal role in ensuring that people in digital jobs get properly educated. According to Education Minister Martina Lubyová (a Slovak National Party nominee), the memo contains 14 commitments and a more specific action plan with 23 measures.
