Slovakia supports entry of Romania and Bulgaria into Schengen area

The growing number of illegal migrants entering the European Union through Romania and Bulgaria is also of concern to Slovakia, as the country is part of this new migration route. The Slovak Interior Minister, Robert Kaliňák, said this on Thursday after the EU's Justice and Home Affairs Council session in Brussels. In August and September, the Romanian authorities caught around 300 migrants on the Black Sea coast. According to Kaliňák, Slovakia is ready to offer its help by sending police officers and technicians over to Romania to help deal with the situation. He added that Slovakia supports the entry of both Romania and Bulgaria into the Schengen area, which would ensure the compactness of the area and the guarantee that the Schengen border would be fully guarded.
