Several fake police documents that have emerged recently have been misused by politicians in their political struggle, stated the Police Corps in a written statement on Wednesday. The police were responding to recent statements made by the Parliamentary Vice-chair Lucia Ďuriš-Nicholsonová (Freedom and Solidarity), who said that she had been sent a document with secret information concerning the Parliamentary Chairman and Slovak National Party leader Andrej Danko's alleged involvement in corruption. The police in their statement stressed that in line with the law on the Protection of Classified Information they have never confirmed and will never confirm the authenticity of classified documents of any kind. The interior minister Robert Kaliňák expressed his belief that the Interior Ministry's inspectorate, which is investigating the case, will find out how the information leak could have happened in the first place and will possibly identify the perpetrator as well.
