The cyclist Jozef Metelka has decided that he will no longer represent Slovakia. At last year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro he won three medals. Metelka, who lives and trains in the UK has been considering leaving the Slovak representation for some time already. However, the athlete's final decision came after the recent Para-cycling Road World Championships in South Africa. There Metelka won the world title in the individual time trial, but did not finish the race with a mass start, according to his words, because of the failure of the Slovak team. However, another Slovak cyclist from the peloton, Ondrej Strečko, reacted to Metelka's accusations saying these were not true and probably just suited him as a good reason to leave Slovakia. Metelka complained that the leader of the Slovak team Branislav Režňák did not inform him properly on the conditions of the race.
