The total volume of EU funds for the 2014-2020 period will be reduced for Slovakia by 68.8 million euros in three operational programs. The reason for this is the higher growth of the economy than predicted by the European Commission in the implementation of the national envelope, confirmed Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization, Peter Pellegrini. Nonetheless, this will not affect any targets or projects, stressed Pellegrini. He pointed to the fact that Brussels increased its total allocation for Slovakia for 2007-2013 by €138 million based on results less positive than it originally expected. Now the situation is the opposite. "Now it is as if we have paid a tax on success, as the country is doing better, the economy is growing faster and is more productive than the European Commission anticipated at the time when it made the calculations," explained Pellegrini.
