Slovak military police officers who left for the EU's military mission in the Mediterranean in early August have been part of a team led by the German navy, TASR informed on Thursday. Having acquired their sea legs, their main task is now to monitor the Libyan coast and to carry out tasks related to illegal migration in this area. Slovakia deployed the military police officers to the operation in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the country's contribution to the joint protection of the southern borders of the European Union. This is the first maritime operation that Slovakia has joined. The Slovak police officers will spend six months on their first tour of duty before being replaced by their Slovak colleagues for the second round.
