Far right candidate cannot run for Governor

Far right candidate Marián Magát will not be able to run for the post of the governor of the Žilina Region, reported RTVS on Thursday. The reason is that he was given a three year suspended sentence for illegal possession of weapons by the court in the northern Slovak town of Čadca. Magát was an unsuccessful parliamentary candidate for the Kotleba People's party our Slovakia in the general election in March 2016. At that time, the party won 8% of the votes. According to the latest poll by Polis published on Thursday, it would win more than 14% of votes in August.
