Slovak Foreign Minister to have leading economist as advisor

Jeffrey Sachs will serve as an advisor to Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák, once he takes office as President of the 72nd UN General Assembly in early September. Sachs is an American economist and a professor at Columbia University in New York. He is currently an advisor to the Secretary General of the UN António Guterres on the topic of sustainability. Lajčák is looking forward to working with Sachs. The Minister views him as an excellent economist, a great expert on sustainability, as well as an experienced scholar. Sachs will also be advising Lajčák on poverty, development, and climate change.
