On Saturday, August 12, the site of the former village of Kalište near Banská Bystrica will host a nationwide tribute to the victims of fascism for the twelfth time. The organisers of the event are expecting around 3,000 visitors. The tribute will combine a cultural programme, sport events, and ecumenical worship service. The no-longer existing village used to be the centre of the so-called Partisan Republic from 1944 to 1945. The remains are currently part of Slovakia's national cultural heritage and visitors can enjoy the presence of various exhibits which guide them through the history of the so-called Partisan Republic.
