CO2-emission Quotas Sold for €6Mln to Spain

Slovakia is to receive €5.81 million from the sale of seven million tonnes of its surplus carbon-dioxide emission quotas to Spain, according to documents published by the Environment Ministry on Wednesday.

The transaction took place two months ago, but the selling price could not have been made public until now at the request of the Spanish side. Previously Slovakia sold its emission quotas in 2008 causing a big scandal when it was revealed that the buyer was a garage-based company that paid a suspiciously low price for the time. It was supposed to spend  €15 million, on so-called green projects, but this hasn't happened.
