President on coalition

President Andrej Kiska met with Slovak National Party leader Andrej Danko on Monday following the latter's announcement that he was withdrawing from the coalition agreement. Kiska's spokesman Roman Krpelan told TASR that the president believes it's up to the leaders of the three governing parties - Smer-SD, SNS and Most-Híd - to discuss the issue among themselves at coalition sessions. The incumbent parliamentary chairman has withdrawn from the coalition agreement, claiming an absolute need to reset the rules and adjust relations within the governing coalition. Among other reasons he cited the need to set completely new priorities that would be reflected within the process of drafting a new budget in order to restore mutual trust between the coalition partners, as well as the public's trust in the coalition.
