The director of the Fire Services division for Central and Eastern Europe, has been charged with endangering property while under the influence of an addictive substance, and subsequently faces a one year prison sentence.
In late October in the village of Geča in Eastern Slovakia the man known as Jan J. doused the ground floor of his house in approximately 15 litres of petrol before setting it on fire. Police and fire services arrived quickly at the scene whereby Jan J. was arrested and placed in a police cell. “The accused has been charged with endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance and has been threatened with imprisonment of up to one year,” stated the Košice regional police spokesperson Alexander Szabó.
