The Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry confirmed the death of a 24-year-old Slovak woman who went missing in the ocean off Point Pleasant Beach summer resort, New Jersey, USA on Sunday (July 30). TASR learnt from the ministry's spokesman Peter Susko on Tuesday. "According to the information that is available to us, a body washed up on the ocean shore that was identified as the person who was declared by the coast guard as missing," said Susko. The local news outlet Lavallette-Seaside Shorebeat wrote that a Slovak woman went to swim along with a Slovak man (23) early morning on Sunday, at about 2:30 a.m. The pair were overwhelmed by "high surf conditions," accompanied by a strong wind flowing from the north-east. The man made it back to shore, but the women did not, prompting the massive search, which included rescue ships and helicopters. Rescuers announced that they suspended the search on Sunday after 10:30 p.m.
