Man charged with sharing extremist material on Facebook

Charges have been laid against a man known as Marián M. by the Prosecutor of the Čadca District Court for the crime of promoting groups and ideology aimed at suppressing the fundamental rights and freedoms of others and the denial of the Holocaust, as well as approving of the crimes related to the Holocaust by political regimes. TASR was informed of this on Wednesday by Deputy Spokesman of the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Žilina, Matúš Harkabus. In March 2017, the District Court handed Marián M. a three year suspended sentence for holding illegal firearms and for arms trafficking with the obligation to undergo social rehabilitation training during the period. The verdict is not yet final. Marián M. is also being prosecuted by Czech judicial authorities for hate-based statements made publically in mid-2015, in Prague.
