The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has proposed to create a specialised police department - Nature Police - to deal with environmental crimes, according to its spokesperson Andrea Predajňová. 185 people were charged with crimes against the environment last year, with most of them concerning poaching and transgressions against the protection of plants, animals, trees and bushes. "The aforementioned records don't correspond to the real situation with crimes against the environment. Therefore, the PG Office has been pointing out for a long time the high latency of this kind of crime and suggests measures be taken," said Predajňová.
