Slovakia lagging behind in digitalisation

Ten years ago, Slovakia was at the same point in using e-services as Belgium, however, it is now lagging behind, wrote the Hospodárske noviny daily on Monday. Thus, Slovakia is turning into a digital society at a slower rate than most of the EU. As the daily indicates, the reason for this situation in Slovakia is people's lack of trust in the state. As sociologist Zuzana Kusá explained, the leader of this ranking, Denmark, is at a much higher level of digitalisation and the state is also more helpful to its citizens. "Communication on websites and forms are simpler, conditions for access and identity verification are not that complicated and are also cheaper than in Slovakia," wrote the daily, citing Kusá.
