Visegrad Four should organise a mini-summit on EU Future

The European Commission would welcome a summit organised in the autumn by the Visegrad Four (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) with Euro-commissioners on the future of the EU, said Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker at a joint press conference on Thursday, after meeting the Slovak PM Robert Fico to discuss the issue of double-quality food standards in the EU. At the press meeting, Juncker stated that they had also debated on general issues concerning the EU's future. As for the mini-summit, it should also concern migration, including the quota scheme for the distribution of migrants, and other issues concerning the entire EU, said Juncker. Fico said that he welcomed Juncker's proposal on organising a mini-summit, adding that there is too little scope for deeper debates at ordinary EU summits.
