Teachers’ salaries to rise by 6% in September

On Monday, the government approved a 6% hike in regional and university teachers' salaries as of September 1^st. Moreover, the government manifesto guarantees another rises by 6% in 2018, 2017 and 2020. "We have been involved in very complicated and long negotiations with the unions and the Association of Towns and Villages and I am glad that after the last one on Friday, even the unions agreed with a compromise proposal," said Education Minister Peter Plavčan. The head of the unions, Pavel Ondek, views the increase positively and as he said for TASR, he expects further negotiations on hikes in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
