Negotiations on minimum wage fail

Negotiations between trade unions and representatives of employers concerning the level of the minimum wage for next year have failed, therefore the Labour Ministry will submit its own proposal on adjusting the minimum wage for 2018. Trade Union Confederation representatives want to increase the minimum wage from the current €435 per month to €492 in 2018 and will not abandon their requirements in this regard, stated the Confederations spokesperson Martina Némethová. Meanwhile, the Association of Employers Unions and the Republican Union of Employers have given up on negotiations, claiming that any talks concerning the minimum wage in Slovakia are useless, as the sum will ultimately be decided by the Government as usual.
