Cycle transport in Slovakia will get some €11-16 million annually, according to the document titled ‘The Permanent Financial Mechanism' drafted by the Transport Ministry. The document proposes allocating approximately €2-3 per capita as of 2017 to the development of cycle tourism and transport.
The money will be used for constructing new cycle routes and maintaining existing cycling infrastructure. The Cyclist Strategy would like to see the construction of new cycle infrastructure spanning 1,000 kilometres by 2020. Such measures would finally make existing infrastructure in Slovakia comparable with those of neighbouring countries.
