Slovakia supports Hungary’s presidency of the V4 group

The Visegrad Four group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) is pragmatically developing its work and focusing on matters related to the lives of people in these countries, stated Slovakia's Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák at a meeting of the V4 foreign ministers in Budapest on Monday. The meeting was also attended by delegations from Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. After the meeting, Lajčák also stated that Slovakia fully supports the ambitious programme of the Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrad 4 group, which is about to start. Hungary underlined that this Central European cluster is the closest and the most effective alliance within the European Union. At the meeting, participants also agreed that the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU should be a priority number 1, especially in connection with the increasing ethnic and inter-state tensions in the region.
